I wanted to let everyone know that My buddy Rose Koogler has entered a portrait to the National Charity Model Search. I’m sure most of my photo buddies are familiar with this promotion that ran along with Sandy’s Tots 2 Teens seminar.
As of March 25, Lola’s portrait was in third place in the Sacramento Region! This is very exciting because if Lola wins first place in the Sacramento Region she will place as a finalist for the national prize. Photography and industry experts will then select the national winner from the city finalists. The national model winner receives many prizes, including a $5,000 US Savings Bond and a Canon PowerShot G10 digital camera.
If you have not entered any photos yourself and would like to support this worthy cause, please help Lola place as a national finalist by clicking on this link: http://www.sandypucvotes.com/pickpic/gallery/image.php?id=1899 and voting for Lola’s image. Each tax deductible vote costs $1 and all proceeds benefit NILMDTS. The deadline to vote is April 2, 2009.
Continuing on my quest to find my voice, my buddy Traig of the Image Smith Photography, sat down with me for a brief interview at Negative Space Studio. Yes I know it brief, again it’s all about finding my voice.
That was the word that best described my last subject for Project 50. This past week I photographed 4 individuals! I am so humbled by the amount of people that have embraced my personal project. Thank you all that have participated and I look forward to working with a new batch of friends this week.
Have you seen my first subject on my site. I think that as artist, this is a great exercise for anyone. I’m asking my subjects to dig deep and choose one word the best describes themselves, before I photograph them. I believe that this type of exercise is good because in order to find happiness, one must first find himself. As a business man i need to keep it real and that can only happen when I believe in my true-self; then and only then can I be truly successful. So if you would allow me to take your photo, please allow yourself to be transparent and come prepared with a word. The beauty, is that you can have this word anywhere in the frame. It can be written on your face, your hands, as a book cover, a tee shirt; so come prepared.
Love you guys
I believe that a photographer should have his own projects to stay motivated and creative. I remember a project that I had to do once in school and the assignment was to walk up to 30 individual strangers, with a 50mm lens and ask them if I could take their photograph in natural light, it was nerve racking BUT, I want to do it again. Today I have more control of my assignments so the goal is to photograph 50 people, friends and strangers.
Will you let me photograph you? Here’s the deal:
- All images will be in B&W
- No Photoshop will be used, if you need make up cake it on baby
- I want to shoot in the street, off camera flash might be used, let’s do it in the alley, the bar, in a car, a coffee shop, a bookstore, on the floor, barefooted, naked I don’t care, it’s all good!
- Bring the real you makes no difference if your loud, quiet, sexy, nasty, dirty or sweet
- I prefer to shoot a bit before dusk
- This is 30 minute session
Again, can I photograph you? Are you available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s; look at your calendar and tell me when you are available. I’m just asking for 50 if I get more subjects that would be cool and it should be fun. Hey leave me a comment.

I had a blast at the Mimi & Company party. First let me start by saying that they have a fabulous showroom and I’m not just saying that because we share the same color style. It’s clean, fresh and very contemporary; they have everything you need to take your event to that level of elegance. I made a few friends last night they are:
- Mike, Robert and Esperanza of Aloha Limo
- The beautiful make up artist Angela Renne, to see more of her work go to Fierce Faces
- Adam Alessi of the Men’s Warehouse
- Vicky and John Marco of Bella Bloom Floral Design
- The fun ladies of Hannibal’s Catering
- Talking about Catering Beth Sogaard, her last name should be “SoGood” because the food was So Good and the presentation was on the money
Lastly, I understand by reading her FaceBook page that Monica Harper from Monica Lynn Events, was coming to this event, I guess I missed this lovely this lady; it was a fabulous night and Mimi and Company did a great job putting up this event; did I tell you that Carmen and I won the dance contest!
Andrea, love her work. I’ve never been photographed or have worked with her in the past but, we had the opportunity of hanging out; which is very important. If I were to use one word to describe Andrea it would be charming. “Andrea we’ll always have the night at 54.”
People aren’t talking anymore. I wake up I get a text, come out of a shower, there’s a text, I’m driving and I get texted; why won’t you call me. I’m a talker, I love talking, chatting, gabbing even blabbing. Talking can be hot, heated, seductive and sensual; not every body does itbut every body should. However if you call and I don’t answer, just leave me a message; I’ll get back to you, I promise.
I have many friends that are close and dear to me. However like in many circles, their is always a few that challenge and inspire you, Jennifer Moon is one of those friends. I love this lady and her bold style of portrait photography, just rocks! Here is my disclaimer, I am not, nor to I aim to be, a Videoagrapher. My goal with my interviews is celebrate my friends while pushing myself out of my comfort zone.
